Dim-er Phuluri or Fluffy Egg Bonda

Date: 31-July-2020

Thought: This recipe is a non-veg version of the iconic phuluris we eat mostly on a rainy day along with muri (murmura a.k.a puffed rice) and Kadak Chai or Latte coffee. Also, is the most simpler and similar form of Dim-er Devil but without too much ingredients and very less time consuming.

Worrying about the oil-content? Don't worry it doesn't soak much oil after frying process believe me.

Ingredients:
  • 5 boiled Eggs cut into halves
  • 1 large onion finely chopped
  • 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tsp chicken masala
  • 2 tsp roasted cumin-coriander powder
  • Mustard oil
  • 8-9 tsp of besan or gram flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 5-6 finely chopped green chillies
  • Salt, sugar and turmeric as per taste.

Method:
  • Mix all the ingredients (except the eggs and oil) with water to form a batter similar to how make for making cake i.e., a thick batter.
  • Heat mustard oil in a pan. Flame-medium. Dip the half eggs into the batter and put in the oil carefully. Fry them till they are golden brown.
  • Take them out and wrap with tissue paper or kitchen towel to remove excess oil (if any). Serve with mustard chutney a.k.a kasundi or any chutney of your choice.
